In order to create the most fabulous personalized experiences, A&K has developed its own version of the customized itinerary. These Luxury Tailor Made tours are an ideal way for a family, couple, or small group of friends to design the perfect trip that can be tailored to include almost any interest. And thanks to A&K’s local connections, the list of unique experiences is almost endless.

What exactly are we talking about? If you are traveling to the U.K. and just to happen to be in love with the game of golf, the A&K team can escort you to the Wentworth Club (previous host of the Ryder, PGA Championship, and many other tournaments), and arrange for you to have a five hour coaching session with a past champion. History lovers who are planning a trip to Rome can visit the remains of a fifth century home under the guidance of expert archaeologists. At the end of the tour, you can indulge in some really old Roman snacks, such as honey sweetened cheesecake and wine soaked chicken.

Cambodia temples via helicopter

Adventure lovers who are visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia can try something completely different. Why just marvel at the same temples that everyone else is seeing when A&K can whisk you away in a helicopter to the remote jungle temples of Boeung Mealea and Koh Ker? Before heading back, your private butler will provide a lunch of marinated beef rolls and egg fried rice.

Although I did not try anything quite as exotic, on a recent family trip to Israel, the Tailor Made group helped me to put together a three-day itinerary to the north. Our amazing local guide Netanel recommended a terrific hike that led to the little known Hexagon Pool, seemed to know every kid-friendly restaurant around, and in addition to the classic sights including Caesarea, Tsfat, and Tiberius, managed to fit a requested stop to a trampoline park into our schedule.

The Tailor Made team recommended one of my favorite hotels, the Efendi. The hotel, which is located in Akko, was originally a 19th century Ottoman Palace and has been meticulously restored to its historical glory. The hotel’s owner is also the chef of the small city’s best-known restaurant, Uri Buri. It was there that we met a group of American archeologists from Penn State who invited us to visit their site the next day. Since we were on one of those Tailor Made trips, we could easily adjust our schedule to add a dig to our plans. That may be the best part of the Tailor Made itineraries. In addition to carefully planned, fabulous days, there is always the chance to jump into a spontaneous adventure.
