Bluetooth speakers are pretty ubiquitous now, which means we not only get useable and cheap designs, but also over-the-top luxury ones too. Case in point is Bowers & Wilkins new T7 Gold Edition speaker — the product of a collaboration with British fashion house Burberry. The shape and design of the Gold Edition is the same as that of the original T7 speaker, but there are new luxury materials in play, including as a suede-lined leather carry case. This doesn’t add to the speaker’s sound quality, of course, but it does mean the T7 Gold Edition will look just as at home on a superyacht as a bedside table.
And, yes, you’re definitely going to need Large Boat Money to get your hands on the new T7, with the speaker costing $995 and only 200 units available from select stores. Spec wise, the T7 Gold Edition gets 18 hours of playback from a full charge, supports the Bluetooth aptX codec for high-quality wireless streaming, and weighs in at just under kilogram. Oh, and for comparison’s sake, the original T7 costs around $430 — so you’re essentially doubling the unit’s price just for the Burberry travel case and logo. That’s good branding for you.
