Audi Announces Exclusive R8 Models for U.S. Market

Luxury car maker Audi will create 2012 R8 models exclusively for the U.S. market. The company announced today that 50 Audi R8 vehicles will be produced, Twenty 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8 vehicles and 30 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10 vehicles will be bound for the USA. The Exclusive Selection Editions will arrive later this month.

 The 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition Audi R8 V8 has new exterior colors and exclusive interior finishes. The deluxe automaker also is introducing a new exterior color, Daytona Gray matte, for the 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition.

The vehicle features a carbon fiber exterior splitter and a diffuser, and a set of 19-inch titanium five-arm double spoke wheels. It is equipped with a 4.2-liter FSI V8 that generates 430 horsepower at 7,900 rpm, with 316 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,500 to 6,000 rpm.

The 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10 features a shimmering Ibis white exterior and various features in a brilliant-black, which include the side blade, exterior mirrors, a rear license plate surround, and R8 GT tail lamps and 19-inch bi-color e-tron wheels.

The R8 V10 is equipped with a 5.2-liter FSI V10 that metes out 525 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, with 391 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,500 rpm.

Both models are available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a proprietary automatic R-tronic transmission. The 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8 is priced at $137,700 (manual transmission) and at $146,800 (automatic R tronic transmission). The six-speed manual transmission 2012 Exclusive Selection R8 V10 model is priced at $161,500; the automatic R-tronic transmission model comes in at $170,600.
