When you think of a luxurious lifestyle you typically picture things like partying on a yacht and driving around in luxurious vehicles. The truth though, is that most people will never achieve that level of wealth. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t live a fulfilling and high-quality lifestyle; a good life. Read on for five habits that you can incorporate into your daily life to make a good life something within your means.
1. Write Down and Share Your Goals With Others
If you set out each day with clear goals and the intent to pursue what matters most to you, chances are that you will do the things necessary to achieve them. According to an infographic on Entrepreneur.com, students who both wrote down and shared their four-week goals achieved them at a much higher rate (76%) than those who did not write them down or share them (43%).
2. Share Yourself With Others
Research reported in the Journal of Social Psychology shows that even in 10 short days, people who practiced one act of kindness each day increased their overall life satisfaction over those participants who did not perform these acts. This doesn’t mean you should spend your day doing things you don’t wish to do for the sake of others; there are plenty of things you can do to give back to the world. Sharing yourself can be as simple as posting something inspirational on a blog or social media everyday, such as a story that moves, a stunning landscape photo from Shutterstock or a piece of art that makes you think. By sharing a part of what makes your day special you create the chance to interact with others in a positive way.
3. Set Aside Meditation Time
You might be thinking, ‘I’m not the kind of person who does that. It’s just not my thing.’ However, statistics suggest that if you are not currently that kind of person, you might want to aspire to become someone who is. According to HRF.org, meditation results in increased brain plasticity, efficient sleep, and lowered blood pressure — all factors that contribute to a general sense of well being.
4. Eat Breakfast
As was mentioned earlier, starting something with intent increases the drive to make it become a reality. The same is true for how you start each day and fuel your body. If you start the day with the intention of taking care of your body, eating a healthy and well-balanced breakfast is a great way to emphasize this and set the tone for the rest of your day.
5. Indulge in a Glass of Wine
As the Mayo Clinic reports, most physicians agree that a substance calledresveratol in red wine is good for your heart. So, in your quest toward living a better life, be sure to indulge daily on some of your favorite wine and rest assured that besides the extracurricular benefits, moderate amounts of wine are actually good for you.
