Chengdu: Over 200 vehicles in various condition have been abandoned by their owners in a park dubbed ‘Tyrants Park’ in the Chengdu province. With weeds and grass growing around them, officials are perplexed about what to do with them.
At least two Bentleys, two Land Rovers and three Mercedes Benz cars form part of the 200 vehicles, worth millions that lie rusting in the parking lot, according to People’s Daily Online.
The majority of the vehicles in the park are part of ongoing criminal investigations, while others remain because of China’s trademarked bureaucracy. Some of the cars have been parked there for over two years and have grass and shrubs growing around them, shielding them from public view.
The local authorities are falling short of ideas about what to do with the cars. While some find their way to auctions, China’s continued austerity crackdown ensures that any empty parking spaces are quickly filled.
